Rajgir, Nalanda and Pawapuri are
most important tourist destinations of the district.
Here are places of utmost importance to all religions. Ancient seat of
learning - Nalanda University has been revealed and excavated by ASI. Griddhkuta
peak in Rajgir is known to attract Buddhists from all over the world. Pawapuri is
known for Mahaparinirvan of Bhagavan Mahavir. Malmas mela of Rajagir attracts
Lakhs of persons. Similarly Brahma kund and makdum kund draw a lot of religious
tourist every year.
On the other side , Nalanda ruins, Museum, Huan-Tsang memorial are major
center of attraction. Pawapuri jal mandir and shanti stupa along with ariel rope

Every year
Rajgir Mahotsav is organised by district administration and tourism
department on first saturday-sunday of December. In year 2008 it was organised
on 6-7 December.
Pant wild life sanctuary is home of rich flora and fauna. Its situated in
Rajgir. Rajgir was in ancient times the capital of Magadhan Empire. The remains
of Fort, cyclopean wall, sone bhandar, Bimibisar jail, Maniyar math etc are
excaveted sites in control of Archeological Survey of India.
Thus Nalanda is truly journey through time.
